Stony Brook's jazz ensembles cover the spectrum from small acoustic groups, to electrified fusion/funk combos, to big band. Performance repertoire encompasses the entire history of jazz and includes premieres of new compositions by students and the director of jazz studies, Ray Anderson. Jazz Combos Jazz combos, lead by Ray Anderson, perform new works and jazz standards with a heavy emphasis on improvisation.
