As Quartet-in-Residence at Stony Brook University, the Emerson brings three concerts a season to Staller Center. For its first concert, the Emerson will present a magnificent “All Czech” program, including the Dvorak Quartet in C Major, Op. 61; Janacek Quartet No. 1, “Kreutzer Sonata” and Dvorak Quartet in F Major, “American,” Op. 96. Buy tickets early since the Emerson concerts sell out quickly.

The second installment of this workshop hosted by the Department of Music, led by the Emerson String Quartet and open, by audition, to string quartets around the world. Many of the week’s events, including master classes, panel discussions, and lectures, will be open to the public.

Stony Brook Chamber Music Festival with the Emerson String Quartet

This exciting event is now in its fourth season. It includes student/faculty chamber music concerts, incredible performances by the Contemporary Chamber Players, appearances by the Emerson Quartet and members of the Stony Brook faculty, and myriad master classes, open rehearsals and lectures. An annual tradition not to be missed!
Chamber Music Program
The chamber music program at Stony Brook continues to blossom with several new concert programs that highlight the Emerson String Quartet and other members of the faculty. Look for special chamber music brochures in October and March that will give detailed information about the Fall and Spring Chamber Music programs. For the chamber music aficionado this is an especially exciting time. The addition of the world famous Emerson Quartet to our faculty gives Chamber Music at Stony Brook a new profile. Several concerts will highlight music from Beethoven to Shostakovich performed by students, faculty and the Emerson Quartet themselves.
Public Master Classes
The chamber music department presents free public masterclasses so you can enjoy the process of shaping and refining great chamber music. Please contact the department for more information.
